The thyroid controls every single cell in the body. When you feel exhausted or your body is gaining weight it is most common that you are suffering from thyroid. Due to this problem the system in your body slows down which results in fatigue, weight gain, dry skin and many more. In many of the cases, it can cause damage to this sensitive and most complicated organ. Here are some of the tips that you can use to avoid the problem:

Take safety precautions while undergoing for X-ray

Before you undergo X-rays especially in the case of dental X-ray which includes your head, neck, spine, or chest make sure that you are provided with the thyroid collar. In case you are not provided, ask them to provide one. Due to the location and large size of the thyroid, it is important to wear this collar so that your thyroid gland can be protected from radiation exposure as excessive exposure can lead to thyroid cancer.

Stop smoking

It is a well-known fact that smoking is bad for the health but for the thyroid patients, it can put a greater risk. The components of smoke which range from thiocyanate to nicotine can lead to an increase in excretion of iodine and it can affect your thyroid’s performance badly. It is also suggested by most of the doctors that smoking can influence the thyroid hormone levels by affecting the enzyme that converts the thyroid’s active form into an inactive form.

Eat healthily

Every doctor recommends eating a balanced diet to maintain a healthy thyroid. They also suggest eating only vegetables and fruits with plenty of proteins and fish. A healthy diet doesn’t lead to any other health issues including gaining weight which creates a problem for a thyroid patient.

Daily Exercise and Meditation

Along with a healthy diet, it is important to do meditation daily. Meditation helps to reduce the problems of anxiety, stress, tension, or other related. If we do meditation daily, it is has been noticed that the thyroid decreases due to regular walking and meditation.

Consider supplements

It is common that there is a connection between thyroid health and iodine. It has been noticed that iodine deficiency is one of the causes of the enlarged thyroid gland. Iodine deficiency is very rare in the developed countries due to supplementation in the table salt and other foods such as dairy and bread. So, it has been recommended by the doctors not to take iodine pills without consulting your doctor.

It has been found that more women are more victims of thyroid rather than men due to which they suffer from various problems during menstruation or pregnancy. You should try to prevent the thyroid problems as it can lead to cancer which becomes difficult to treat. So, it is better to detect the problems at the early stages.
